Clinical Trials Eastern Shore Urology Associates is actively participating in clinical trials for cancer treatment and prevention through Shore Regional Cancer Center. A clinical trial is a study designed to evaluate the potential benefit of new treatments. The goal is to find better ways to prevent, detect, or treat cancer or to improve care for people with cancer. Currently, less than 10% of adult cancer patients enroll in trials. The main reason for this is a lack of awareness of clinical trials. Most, if not all, major advancements in the treatment of cancer have come as a direct result of patient participation in clinical trials. We are participating in the following clinical trials: SWOG 9346: This study is looking at intermittent versus continuous hormone therapy for patients with prostate cancer. CALGB 90202: This study will test whether early treatment with a medication (zoledronic acid) will reduce the risk of bone pain and fracture in prostate cancer patients.
